One Church As Good As Another?
by: Keith Camp

Whether or not the Bible suits our "think-so's," our "why-not's," or our "what-if's, it ALONE must be followed (see Colossians 3:17 and 2 John 9). We can find churches that will teach what WE want to hear and agree with OUR choices. And perhaps we would be more comfortable and contented in THIS life... But what about in that day of judgment and eternity?

We will be judged on the basis of our acceptance or rejection of what the Lord Jesus has said (John 12:48), not OUR idea of what should be. We can rationalize, philosophize, and even compromise but the Word is "forever settled in Heaven" (Psalms 119:89). So then, if we want God's approval we MUST learn the Lord's will and adjust our convictions and lives accordingly (2 Timothy 2:15; Romans 12:1-2). Here is just one example:

Many people are of the opinion and say, "One church is as good as another." That may be true IF you are comparing ONLY the denominational churches. Because, as Mr. Billy Graham has written: "God did not invent denominations, man did" (Facing Death and the Life After, p.230, bold type mine for emphasis, kc). But the Lord's church CANNOT be included in that comparison (Isaiah 55:8-9; 1Corinthians 3:11).

Are you a member of a denominational church? If so, then do you believe a church originated by man, built by man, and follows a doctrine of man IS AS GOOD as the church Jesus built (Matthew 16:18), purchased with His blood (Acts 28:20), is the Head and Savior of (Ephesians 5:23) and follows ONLY His doctrine (Jude 3; 2 John 9)? No? Then, should you (can you) continue your membership with a denominational church?
