Is drunkenness and drinking parties tolerated among the church where you worship? If so,then consider this:
God has plainly stated:
1) "Drunkenness,...is a work of the flesh" and those who practice it "will NOT inherit the kingdom of God" (see, Galatians 5:19,21; 1Corinthians 6:10)
2) The Christians must "NOT be drunk with wine" (Ephesians 5:18). And if he is...?
3) The church "must NOT associate with anyone who calls himself a brother but is ...a drunkard...With such a man do not even eat...Expel the wicked man from among you" (1 Corinthians 5:11,13).
God does NOT fellowship the impenitent drunkard, nor will He allow their entrance into Heaven. Thus, the church should work to seek his sobriety, not UNscripturally tolerate, and hence perpetuate, his sin.
But, what about "cocktail parties" or "having a few drinks with the boys?" God is NO LESS disapproving:
God has plainly stated:
1) The Christians must "no longer live in the flesh for the lusts of men, but for the will of God" (1 Peter 4:2).
2) "Drinking parties" ARE "in the flesh for the lusts of men" (a work of the flesh) and "those who practice shuch things will not inherit the kingdom of God" (1 Peter 4:2,3; Galatians 5:19,21).
3) The church must "have NO fellowhip with unfruitful works of darkness, but rather expose them" (Ephesians 5:11).
God does NOT fellowship the works or workers of darkness (1 John 1:5-10). And hence, neither can the Christian or the church.
